Breaking Up Was Hard to Do

Being told I love you is something special, warming you to your soul and it usually brings on a silly grin that you can’t seem to get rid of. Of course most of it is all smooth sailings in the beginning, but sometimes things change and facing those changes can be gut wrenching, for both the wrenchee and the wrenchor. When facing each other there is the potential for extreme emotions, as the saying goes breaking up is hard to do and in most cases that is a very literal translation. It is very hard to face someone when you have something to say that you know is going to hurt and cause angry feelings, so yes, breaking up is hard to do.

At least it was until now because thanks to all of our technological advancements breaking up can be done a succinctly as two words: text messaging. Seriously, if you are worried about the outcome of a face to face meeting you can just whip out your cell phone and text a farewell message to the ex love of your life. It’s not like they can hang up on you or slam the door in your face, right?

Ok, so maybe for you a text message is a little too impersonal or cold, then instant messaging might be the electronic break-up device of choice. They have all those cute emoticons performing different actions so similar to human actions. They do everything from just smiling to crying, winking, laughing, showing angry and sad expressions, it is a cornucopia of available emotions that you can use in your messages. Perhaps one showing a broken heart would be appropriate or one waving goodbye might be in order, which is pretty much up to you.

One bad point is that instant messaging allows communication between you in real time; you may be spilling everything in a message to them and the next thing you know they answer because that sneaky person was hiding in stealth mode.

If you want an approach that is almost fool proof, meaning they can’t text message you or show up on messenger then email might be best for you. Even if they respond you don’t have to read the mail, just pretend it never showed up. And, they too have some great smileys and emoticons, you can find something suitable for every occasion. Just be careful if you use any of the adult ones, wouldn’t want a kid to see that, lol.
